MICHAEL L. ELWOOD
Mr. Elwood joined Azure Dynamics in 2004 and has spearheaded AZD’s Marketing, Trade Mark Registration, Government and Public Relations. Mr. Elwood led the re-branding of AZD which took place in 2007 and created the Brand names Balance™ Hybrid, Force Drive™ Electric and now the Balance Plus™. While at Azure, Mr. Elwood also trademarked the term "Part of the Solution™" which has been adopted by the company as its corporate slogan.
Mr. Elwood has been active in the industry in Canada as he was appointed Chair – Board of Directors for Electric Mobility Canada (EMC). This appointment came into effect in November of 2006 and continues into 2011. Through EMC, Mr. Elwood Chaired Canada’s Electric Vehicle Technology Roadmap with the support of Industry and the Federal Government of Canada.
Mr. Elwood has developed an extensive network of global contacts within the world of “sustainable transportation” and has attended and participated in a number of major conferences from Brazil to China advocating the use of electrons to displace our dependency on fossil fuels in mobility.
Mr. Elwood is a Board Member with Electric Mobility Canada (EMC), Canadian Courier & Logistics Associations (CCLA) as well he participates in a number of Committees for the Hybrid Truck Action Group (HTAG) and Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA).
Prior to AZD Mr. Elwood, was a Partner and Co-Owner of the Indian Motorcycle Company where he was part of the group that brought back the legendary Chief in 1999. Mr. Elwood has enjoyed an entrepreneurial career having owned or partnered in an Internet Startup company in 1989, a Sports Marketing business and other varied careers including a pro hockey stint in Europe.
