Mechanical Engineer (Boston)
Reporting to:
Mechanical Engineering Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in project meetings such as brainstorming, design review and program meetings.
- Work towards the project goals in a timely manner according to the project schedule. Communicate to the project leader at all times if any part of this schedule may not be met.
- Responsible for engineering oversight of specific projects.
- Lead the design/prototyping of hardware, components and systems, using in-depth knowledge of SolidWorks and engineering practices
- Coordinate design reviews, FMEA’s, and engineering analysis.
- Lead the design and integration of pilot production units and training of production staff.
- Direct the testing, validation and documentation of project designs.
- Assist manufacturing engineering in the transition to production.
Education, Specialized Training and Experience Required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work on a fast-paced, deadline driven design engineering team.
- 3D CAD experience, Solidworks preferred.
- Ability to analyze, research and solve problems using fundamental mechanical engineering practices. Experience with mechanical system design and integration, especially automotive, electromechanical and/or hybrid vehicle systems.
- General knowledge of automotive systems and subsystems required.
- Experience in traction and auxiliary motor design or other rotating machinery design.
- Demonstrated experience with drawing standards including GD&T for detailing drawings.
- Design for Manufacture experience a plus.
Education/Certification:
- BSME and 4-6 years experience minimum or equivalent education and experience. MSME preferred.
