Electrical Engineer (Vancouver)
Position Summary
- Ideally though not essential, an automotive experienced electrical engineer responsible for the delivery of EDS components (wiring harnesses & associated sub-systems) within the electrical team.
- Proactive, enthusiastic personality that must take full ownership of the delivery of components to requirements and all issues related to that delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and engineering responsibility for Hybrid vehicle sub-systems to include one or more of the following:
- EDS - Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Requirements capture
- Concept development
- Design calculations and analysis
- FMEA creation and update
- DVP creation
- Create design documentation and/or guidance of CAD designers as required.
- Design for manufacture reviews
- Supplier management - Represent sub-systems in engineering and management reviews (report progress against key activities, identify risks/shortfalls and recommend resolutions)
- Set best practice for component and system design utilizing industry standard tools and techniques.
- Hands on approach required to support other engineers key tasks in times of peak workload.
Education, Specialized Training and Experience Required
Educated to post secondary in a relevant Engineering subject.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following experience.
Essential
- Electrical engineering experience.
Preferred
- Experience in managing reporting engineers and/or CAD engineers.
- Detailed experience in the use and correct application of the following tools and techniques:
- FMEA
- FE analysis.
- DVP
- VAVE - Proven history of delivery of vehicle systems from concept to launch (preferably in a powertrain environment) to include the specification of systems and components.
- Well versed in standard automotive product development tools and techniques.
- EMI/EMC
- 12V charging systems
- HEV/EV design and development experience / knowledge of main components.
- Experience in the following tools and processes:
- Design for Manual Assembly (DFMA)
- VA/VE, TCM or other cost management tool,
- AutoCAD LT
- Solidworks
- Vesys
