Electrical CAD Drafter – VeSys Harness (Vancouver)

Position Summary

  • CAD engineer responsible for the delivery of harness & schematic drawings, as direct by the electrical & mechanical engineers.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic personality that must take full ownership of the delivery of drawings to requirements and all issues related to that delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and engineering responsibility for Hybrid vehicle sub-systems to include one or more of the following:
      - VeSys Harness & Schematic drawings
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
      - Requirements capture
      - Concept development
      - Design calculations and analysis
      - Create design documentation and/or guidance of CAD designers as required.
      - Design for manufacture reviews
  • Creating deviations & change requests.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding implementation of deviations & change requests.
  • Represent sub-systems in engineering and management reviews (report progress against key activities, identify risks/shortfalls and recommend resolutions)
  • Set best practice for component and system design utilizing industry standard tools and techniques.
  • Hands on approach required to support other engineers’ key tasks in times of peak workload.

Education, Specialized Training and Experience Required

The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following experience.

Essential

  • AutoCAD LT software experience
  • Microsoft office software

Preferred (but not essential)

  • Electrical engineering experience
  • Automotive engineering experience
  • Experience in managing reporting engineers and/or CAD engineers.
  • Proven history of delivery of vehicle systems from concept to launch (preferably in a powertrain environment) to include the specification of systems and components.
  • Well versed in standard automotive product development tools and techniques.
  • Detailed experience in the use and correct application of the following tools and techniques:
      - FMEA
      - FE analysis.
      - DVP
      - VAVE
  • HEV/EV design and development experience / knowledge of main components.
  • EMI/EMC
  • Experience in the following tools and processes:
      - Design for Manual Assembly (DFMA)
      - VA/VE, TCM or other cost management tool,
      - Solidworks
      - VeSys
