Sustainability

Sustainability can be a very confusing subject. It is a term that has often been misused and misunderstood. Many people think sustainability means being environmentally friendly when in fact it is far more than that. Sustainability is a way of life; it is a process by which we make decisions about how we use the precious resources the Earth has made available to us. For the last 100 years we have plundered the Earth of its non-renewable resources so we could transport ourselves, and in doing so, have created significant damage to the environment.

The transportation sector, which consumes 65% of total petroleum products, is the greatest contributor to pollution accounting for one-third of all CO2 emissions, one-third of NOx emissions and 77% of CO emissions. Controversial but substantial evidence points to vehicle emissions as a major contributor to global warming.  Rather than waiting to be legislated into taking action on such environmental issues as greenhouse gas emissions, more and more companies are inventing new ways of doing business that positively affect the ‘triple bottom line’ of people, planet and profit. At Azure, we believe in taking the lead and creating solutions now.  Investing in a hybrid electric vehicle solution is a smart step in helping secure the well being of our planet.

In an effort to apply sustainability to business practices Azure has developed sustainable commercial transportation applicable to most urban transportation fleets. Azure’s technology reduces the amount of fossil fuel needed to operate a fleet of vehicles. The Azure advantage is that the Hybrid Electric powertrains are compatible both with the energy available today and the fuel cell technology of the future.  Azure believes any business with commercial fleets has a choice to make as they replace vehicles.  By adopting our sustainable commercial hybrids, business leaders will positively affect future generations.

Understanding sustainability requires an awareness of how everything we do, everything we take, everything we make and everything we waste affects nature's balance, and how our actions will ultimately affect our children and their children.
